A mixed use development comprising 49 apartments with ground floor retail on the site of a former car showroom and garage in Matlock town centre.
The site had a previous planning refusal prior to our involvement, and Spring worked with Officers at Derbyshire Dales to overcome each of the historic issues, successfully securing planning permission for the project.
The key issues to address were the proposed design, the location being a gateway site into the town centre, and the site being located within Flood Zone 3.
We worked with the LPA and architects to address the previous design issues, ensuring the proposed building was in keeping with other buildings in Matlock. We worked closely with a flood risk consultant in order to devise a strategy, creating a detailed analysis and modelling of various future scenarios, including climate change.
After extensive discussions with the Environment Agency (EA) based around this work the EA withdrew their objections and planning permission was obtained in September 2021. The scheme is currently under construction and due for completion in 2023.
